Jacob hails from New York's Capital Region (more specifically, Brunswick, NY). He grew up with a very artistic family and started acting around the age of ten. As he aged, Jacob realized he wanted to make a career out of music and theatre and enrolled at Ithaca College to study, you guessed it, Musical Theatre. While studying, he rekindled his love for the outdoors that developed from his summers on Lake George. He is currently on a journey to hike the 46 Adirondack High Peaks as well as others around the world.
Jacob plays a multitude of instruments and is also a singer-songwriter. Favorite bands and musical influences include The Decemberists, Glen Hansard, The Avett Brothers, Alexi Murdoch, Peter Gabriel, Iron & Wine, and Eddie Vedder.

Young Hero is not usually a stand-out role, but he is here. True, he has some of the better Sondheim songs, and Jacob Shipley manages dewy innocence, affability and a sweet fulsome tenor; the addition of a guitar to the Rodgers & Hart styled “Love, I Hear” is an adroit touch.-The Ithaca Times
"As Jack, Jacob Shipley has boundless energy, fine dance skills and an impressive singing voice. He also brings abundant boyish charm to the role, and a fine sense of comedy."
